Removing the School Bus Floor

Last time I posted I mentioned that we are moving.  Well, many doors have shut since then and we made the decision to stay here.  We are actually really happy about that.  The closer we got to moving the more we thought about the things we would miss here.  We are grateful to continue living here.

During the time we thought we would be moving a family friend offered to help us with our school bus.  He asked us what we wanted to include in our bus and we emailed him several videos to show him what we liked.  He took that information and created a plan for us on CAD.  Here is a picture of him showing us the plan for the first time.  What he came up with exceeded our expectations!

Last week work on the school bus resumed.  Only the seats had been removed up until this point and we had used the bus temporarily for our former book business. Recently we have used it to store some file cabinets my husband bought from an online auction to resell.

The kids worked really hard helping to remove the floor of the bus.  My husband says he couldn’t have done it that quickly without them.  They pulled up screws, tons of rubber, a couple seats that had been left behind, and old wood flooring.

After a day or so my husband bought some new tools from Harbor Freight to make the job a little easier and so the kids would have plenty of tools to work with.  They liked the new tools!

After the rubber was pulled up the wood flooring came up pretty easily.  We decided to replace the floor because the wood had rotted in places underneath the rubber. Now the wood has been removed from all the floor behind the driver’s seat.
